A vital tool for developing acoustical solutions while reducing cost and weight.
The Blachford Acoustics Laboratory is a multi-faceted facility designed as a resource for our customers, including truck, off-highway, bus and motor home OEMs. It is the only laboratory of its kind in North America, and is truly a 21st century facility, complete with the state-of-art features needed to help customers determine and achieve noise control and sound quality goals. The result? Value-added products and increased market differentiation.
Blachford Acoustics Laboratory features:
- Large hemi-anechoic room suitable for heavy trucks, large buses, mid- sized wheel loaders and other large vehicles
- Heavy-duty dynamometer featuring
tandem axle system for loading engine
and drive train components, 50” rolls,
designed for “quiet” operation
- Reverberation room
- Jury room for sound quality development
- Buck testing capabilities
- ISO Guide 25/ISO 17025 (PLANNED)
Laboratory Goals
- Bring our customers the acoustical resources historically available only to passenger car OEM’s
- Provide a detailed analysis of component contributions, determine sound quality goals and provide tools for achieving them
- Reduce cost and weight by optimizing acoustical treatments and eliminating low to no value treatments
